Abstract The emotional poetic story in pre - Islamic poetry "Technical Study" The objective of the study was to determine the technical value of the poetic cutting method, as well as the value of the recipient. It also aimed to study the elements of the story in terms of narration and identification of personalities, conflict and cohesion of the story, and drawing the environment or atmosphere in which events occur. The poetic story represents a technical maturity and a stage of development, which respond to the proponents of the similarity of pre-Islamic poetry and after the adoption of technical methods. The study has concluded that the poetic story is a familiar phenomenon in our heritage, which has been manifested in many poems in different ages. It has been used by poets in the pre-Islamic era to portray the reality of their lives in all their emotional, social and military aspects. Artistic maturity responds to those who say that there is a lack of ancient Arabic literature for the story, followed by artistic methods. Most of the artistic elements of the story in the light of contemporary criticism were found in emotional poetic narratives prior to Islam. Events, personalities, time, place, drama and dialogue are among the artistic elements of the emotional poetic story of the pre-Islamic era.
