يتناول البحث بالعرض والتحليل والمقارنة مسألة من المسائل الخلافية بين جناحي أهل السنة والجماعة السادة الأشاعرة والسادة الماتريدية . ويبدأ البحث ببيان معنى " الإيمان " في اللغة ، ثم بيان مفهومه عند الأشاعرة والماتريدية ، ثم يعرض البحث لرأيهما في حكم الاستثناء في الإيمان والمتمثل في قول المؤمن : ( أنا مؤمن إن شاء الله )، ثم ذكر تعقيب الباحث على رأي المدرستين في المسألة ، وبيان أن الحلاف بينهما يمكن إرجاعه إلى كونه خلافًا لفظيًا. وقد انتظم البحث في مقدمةٍ ، ومبحثين، وخاتمة. المقدمة وفيها: قضية البحث ، ومنهجه ، وخطته .المبحث الأول: مفهوم الإيمان عند الأشاعرة والماتريدية المطلب الأول: معنى الإيمان في اللغة . المطلب الثاني: مفهوم الإيمان عند الأشاعرة. المطلب الثالث: مفهوم الإيمان عند الماتريدية.  وأخيرًا: تعقيب الباحث. المبحث الثاني : موقف الأشاعرة والماتريدية من مسألة ( الاستثناء في الإيمان ).المطلب الأول: موقف الأشاعرة من المسألة. المطلب الثاني: موقف الماتريدية من المسألة. وأخيرًا: تعقيب الباحث. خاتمة البحث وفيها: أهم النتائج ، والمقترحات البحثية. ثم قائمة المصادر والمراجع.
This research addresses, through presentation, analysis, and comparison, a controversial issue between the two wings of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, the Ash'aris and Maturidis. The research begins by explaining the linguistic meaning of "faith," followed by its concept according to the Ash'aris and Maturidis. It then presents their views on the ruling on the exception to faith, represented by the believer's statement, "I am a believer, God willing." The researcher then provides a commentary on the two schools' views on the issue, explaining that the disagreement between them can be traced back to a verbal disagreement. The research is organized into an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction includes the research question, methodology, and plan.
