إن السنة هي المصدر الثاني للتشريع، لذا فقد لاقت من عناية المسلمين ما حفظها، ولا غرو؛ فهي قرينة القرآن، أوتيها رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ليخرج الناس من الظلمات إلى النور، وليبين للناس ما نُزِّلَ إليهم لعلهم يعلمون فيتقون، جاءت شاملة كاملة، لكن أهل الزيغ والضلال زعموا اختلافها وتعارضها، لمَّا لم يفهموا مرادها، فتشككوا وشككوا من غير تدقيق ولا نظر، فقام من أئمة الحديث مَن بيَّنَ خطأهم وردَّ شبهتهم، فجمع بعض الأحاديث المتعارضة وردَّ تعارضها، وذلك ببيان نسخ بعضها لبعض تارة، أو ترجيح بعضها على بعض، أو التوفيق تارة أخرى. ويتكون هذا البحث من مقدمة ، ثم بيان لمعنى التعارض والترجيح.
فعرفت التعارض، والترجيح لغةً وشرعاً، وبينت مسالك العلماء في دفع التعارض..
ثم ذكرت أسباب التعارض الظاهري، كما وضحت أركان الترجيح، وفي الأخير عرجت على ذكر نماذج من النصوص المتعارضة
وخاتمة: ضمنتها أهم النتائج والتوصيات.
