يعد الحافظ المزي من أبرز علماء الحديث في القرن الثامن الهجري، وقد تناولت كثيرٌ من الدراسات المعاصرة الحديث عن جهوده العلمية، ومنهجه في التأليف، خاصة في كتابيه المشهورين: «تهذيب الكمال في أسماء الرجال»، و«تحفة الأشراف بمعرفة الأطراف»، لكن مع هذا: فلا تسعفنا هذه الدراسات بمؤلَّفات المزي الأخرى، حتى يكاد الباحث يظن أنه لم يخط غيرهما!
وقد أتى هذا البحث لتسليط الضوء على هذا الجانب من حياة المزي العلمية، وكشف النقاب عنه، وإظهاره للباحثين، وبيان ما نُشر من هذه المؤلفات وما لم يُنشر، أو لم يُعثر عليه، كما تعرض البحث لما نُسب إلى المزي خطأ، وسبب الوهم والخطأ، ليكون إضافة جديدة في ترجمة هذا الحافظ الكبير
Al-Hafiz al-Mizzi is one of the most prominent hadith scholars in the eighth century AH, and many contemporary studies have dealt with his scientific efforts and his approach to writing, especially in his two famous books: “Tahzeeb al-Kamal fi Asma al-Rijal” and “Tuhfat al-Ashraf Ma’rifa al-Atraf”, But  nevertheless: These studies do not help us with Al-Mizzi’s other writings, to the point that the researcher almost thinks that he did not write anything else!
So, This research came to shed light on this aspect of Al-Mizzi’s scientific life, unveil it, show it to researchers, and  indicate what was published from these books and what was not published, or could not be found. The research also exposed to what was wrongly attributed to Al-Mizzi, and the cause of illusion and error, to be A new addition to the biography of this great hafiz.
